ONIONS - ROAD TO HEALTH - HELP FOR ASTHMA

Forty million people died of the flu in l919. In one area it seemed that every family except one in the community had the flu except one. A doctor took time to ask the lady of the house if she knew why this might be. She said they always kept at least one onion in each room. Sometimes she mounted the onion on a fork and placed it in a glass. Further inquiries showed that people found it helped them avoid flu and colds and relieved asthma.

At times after the war the entire community came down with the flu and there was no one to take care of them and serve them a bowl of soup to help them recover. Settlers from the Ukraine cook with garlic and sometimes made a whole laundry tub of soup with plenty of garlic in it and brought some over to others in the community. They were the ones who recovered.

The doctor decided the onions and garlic absorbed the bacteria. A hairdresser put onions in bowls around her shop and none of her employees came down with flu. Your hairdresser knows. One person put a whole onion each day near a patient who was very ill with flu. In the morning the onions would be black. Apparently the germs are very attracted to the fragrance of the onion.

Another person visited Mullins Food Products and asked their chemist why potato salad often spoiled so fast, especially at picnics. He explained it is best not to keep any leftover onion slices in the refrigerator. Potato salad spoils fast at picnics because of the onions in it, rather than the commercial salad dressing. Home made salad dressing is excluded because its contents are unknown. Cooked onions are a good remedy for all infections and colds. Share with everyone and enjoy the fragrance and good health together.
