EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL HAS ANTI- INFLAMMATORY BENEFITS

British scientists have discovered that freshly pressed extra-virgin olive oil has anti-inflammatory qualities similar to the non-steroidal compound in the commercial painkiller ibuprofen. Publishing in the journal “Nature,” the researchers named this anti-inflammatory ingredient oleocanthal. They speculated that the health benefits of regular olive oil consumption, as found in the Mediterranean diet, could be attributed to the oleocanthal it contains.
